On Sunday, June 8, 2025, the church will celebrate Pentecost Sunday. Pentecost Sunday is traditionally observed 50 days after Easter. Pentecost celebrates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles while they were in Jerusalem and is considered the birthday of the Christian church. This is recorded in Acts 2:1-21. On this Sunday, we use the color red to symbolize joy and the fire of the Holy Spirit. You will see this in our altar paraments (or linens) and in some of the vestments (like the stole) that the Pastor wears. We encourage everyone to wear the color red to church to help celebrate this festival day. In many churches, Confirmation is held on this Sunday.
Thanks to Illustrated Ministry, you can have your own Pentecost flame! Feel free to download this Pentecost coloring sheet, cut it out and make a headband or tape a popsicle stick to the back to help celebrate the birth of the Christian Church, check out this reel from Illustrated Ministry!
